Speaker Series to look at policies regarding family caregiving for older adults

Header

Recent publications on family caregiving are yielding critical insights on the many financial and policy implications across multiple generations and society as a whole. Experts in policy and advocacy will join us at our third Speaker Series program focusing on California’s rapidly growing and increasingly diverse older adult population.

On Oct. 10, we will welcome Kathleen Kelly, M.P.A., Executive Director of the National Caregiver Alliance, who will provide an overview of policy opportunities and system reforms based on her extensive national experience and her participation on the California Task Force on Family Caregiving. Social entrepreneur, biomedical researcher and Alzheimer’s advocate Nihal Satyadev will provide a millennial perspective on caregiving. Noticing a lack of youth advocacy for Alzheimer’s disease, he founded The Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s to provide opportunities for college and high school students to advocate, research and provide care for those battling the disease. A facilitated dialogue with audience interaction will round out the program.

Online registration is open until Oct. 5 or until filled. Please e-mail us any questions.

Event partners include: AARP California, Alzheimer’s Association, Archstone Foundation, Association of California Caregiver Resource Centers, California Commission on Aging, Grantmakers In Aging, Metta Fund, National Alliance on Caregiving, Placer Community Foundation, The California Endowment, The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation and The Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s.
