Tribal water rate implementation results in water conservation

Water rates are tricky, especially when a well-established water system has no rate structure in place. A rate increase is a tough sell to any community, and it often fails to win support. This article looks at how one small tribal community addressed water rates and ultimately succeeded.

Draft State Drinking Water Plan for Calif.

Last fall, the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) released its draft Safe Drinking Water Plan for California. The long anticipated drinking water plan draft is the first update since the original plan was written in 1993, and state law was passed in 1996 requiring periodic plan updates. This was one of many tasks that the California Department of Public Health handed over to SWRCB after the drinking water program was transferred on July 1, 2014. Read more
