Cheers to Saint Pat, the Irish and Those Little People!

The year is flying by and it's already time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Don't you just love those little leprechauns and their 'pots of gold'? We have lots of cats looking for their 'pot of gold' in the form of a new and loving home!! In fact, in this edition of our Mews we have some special situations we are looking for help with -- if you or a friend are in a position to do so, please please contact us! Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Even if your not Irish, don't forget to wear a wee bit of the green (or you might get pinched!).

Love-matches... Bunny and Miles... continued!
But first, last month we had a little glitch and neglected to print Bunny and Miles pictures in our Valentine's Day Love Match section and they are just too cute to pass over...
Miles and Bunny -- The story...
by mom Minette Norman
Tom and I adopted Miles in September 2009. He had come to Marin from New Orleans where he was picked up as a stray kitten. We had hoped that he and our older cat Squirrel would become best buddies, but Miles was too rambunctious and aggressive for Squirrel's taste. We decided Miles needed another playful young cat in the house, which is what led us to adopt Bunny from ASCS. When I met Debbie at PETCO one weekend, she suggested Bunny as a "hard player" who would be a good match for Miles. We adopted Bunny in March 2010. Bunny and Miles are a perfect match, both playful and loving with each other. If we wake up in the night, we often find Miles and Bunny cuddled up together at our feet, with Miles grooming a loudly purring Bunny. While both Bunny and Miles will turn four years old this year, Miles is twice Bunny's size. She is the dainty girl and he's the big bruiser.

What's a Guy Gotta Do...???

© Copyright 2011 www.mountaintreestudios.com
Hi, I'm Truman and I have been looking for an home for a really long time! I just don't understand... I'm handsome, sweet, smart and healthy! Ok, so I'm ten! That's middle-aged! Are you a spring chicken?? Seriously though, I'm baffled! So let's go over this one more time. I'm a beautiful buff tabby. I'm a really nice boy! I have excellent manners (if I do say so myself!). I can even "high five" (if you have some tasty treats!). I get along fine with other nice cats and if you give me a few days, I could be your best buddy! I'm all ready to go... I've had shots, my teeth cleaned, the works!! What else can I do?? I love my foster family, but I want a place of my own -- soon! So come on, somebody give me a call!

More Spunky Seniors Looking for a Home!
Meet Lovey, Panda, Papi and Tino ...

Lovey is 12 years old. She is a super friendly, cuddly little cat who loves her people and is not so fond of other furry critters. Lovey is a victim of divorce, and really deserves another chance at a loving home.

Panda is 10. This sweet little tuxedo girl lost her human companion to cancer. She is a gentle, loving kitty and ok with other nice cats. Panda is on a special diet and needs a medication for some mouth issues (but it's pretty simple and not an expensive medication).

Papi is also 10 years old. He is just about the cutest, sweetest tabby boy ever (and I love those tabbies!). His family loves him dearly, but allergies are forcing this issue. Papi would make a lovely companion in a quiet home.

Tino is about 12. What a handsome gent he is! Tino's mom became too ill to care for him and he is hoping for a bit of that gold at the end of the rainbow!!

The Muppet Brothers: Bert, Ernie and Elmo!

Those of you who have known us for awhile know that we have some cats in our care that have never been 'adoptable'. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed and they may lose their living situation. The first 3 kitties we are asking for help with are Bert, Ernie and Elmo. Years ago, I fed their mother in a feral colony. They were kittens then -- we trapped them and had them neutered, vaccinated, etc... They are now 5 yrs old. Bert is a buff and white tabby. Ernie and Elmo are grey tabbies. Although they have always lived indoors, know the daily routine, love their wet food and nightly treats, we can still not pet them. Bert and Ernie sleep together -- Elmo
is part of the gang, but definitely the shyer of the three. I would love for them to have a place together, at least Bert and Ernie. They are feral, but not barn cats -- they have lived a cozy life indoors. If you have a situation where they could be comfortable -- well, that would be some 'pot of gold'!! They are super cute, sweet and have fun personalities (just like the muppets!!)

We Need Foster Care (DESPERATELY!)
Help!! These 4 cats would love a place to hang out while waiting for their forever home...

Oliver is a sweet 3yr black cat. He is just a little gentleman! Currently, he is at the East San Rafael Vet Clinc, safe -- but living in a cage... know anyone with a room for him??

BlackJack is also a black kitty. He is 4yrs, and just beautiful with his medium length coat and big round eyes! He is in foster care in the East Bay, but it is difficult for him to make our adoption events and so harder to find that forever home.

Bobby & Cooper are handsome tabby brothers. They are in the Kings County Shelter waiting for us to have space for them. They are young, just 1 1/2 yrs old...the shelter folks think they are very special and really want them to come to our rescue. Personally, I am a BIG tabby lover and can't wait to meet them, but we have no place yet to put them.
Any of these cats would appreciate your help. ASCS will take care of their medical expenses, as well as food, litter, toys and beds. You can see more pictures of these kitties on our website www.ascscats.org (just click on 'KittyCam') or you can click on the 'petfinder' link and read more about them!

Update on our Good Friend Mary!
In January we mentioned that our dear friend and collegue Mary Bruck had had a stroke. Thanks to all who have been concerned. She is home now, continuing to recouperate with a long road of rehab ahead of her. We continue to send our love and good wishes... there are litterally hundreds of kitties out there who would have had a different fate without Mary's intervention! We can't wait for her to show up at an adoption event!
