Cap & Gown Distribution
 

Distribution for cap and gown will be conducted in the Red Barn on the Belknap Campus as follows:

  • Thursday, May 12th 12 P.M. - 7 P.M.
  • Friday, May 13th 10 A.M. - 1 P.M.

Required Rehearsal
 

All students attending the University-wide ceremonies are required to attend the rehearsal for their ceremony on Friday evening, May 13, 2016.

  • Rehearsal for 10:00 a.m. University-wide Commencement Ceremony - 6:00 P.M.
  • Rehearsal for 2:00 p.m. University-wide Commencement Ceremony - 7:30 P.M.

May 12 - Drive by Decal
 

The Alumni Association is excited to invite graduates to their Drive by Decal event on May 12 from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Graduates can pick up their caps & gowns on Thursday and then come to the University Club & Alumni Center to have a complimentary Alumni decal put on their car by UofL VIPs, Alumni Association Board members, and staff. We look forward to welcoming our newest alumni!

In celebration of your student's graduation, your student and a guest are invited to Graduate Day at the Downs presented by the Alumni Association and Student Activities. Enjoy two complimentary tickets for Twilight Thursday racing beginning at 5 P.M. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5.

Recently, we created a new wesbite just for you - the parents. We heard your thoughts and concerns from our Annual Survey and did our best to develop a website to suit your needs. We have all of our family events listed along with Freqently Asked Questions for your reference. Selling Books Back & Returning Textbook Rentals
 

Whether your student rented or purchased their textbooks from either the on campus bookstore or the off campus bookstore, there are procedures to return or sell those books back at the end of the semester.  Below are the links for the possible bookstores your student may have used.  Follow these links to check out the rental return and sell back policies for the various bookstores.

Summer Semester
 

There is still time for your student to register for summer courses should he or she be interested. They are a great way to work ahead on specific programs! Registration is still open until May 9, the first day of Term I.

$49 Summer Validations Available at the SRC
 

Students not taking summer classes are eligible to purchase a $49 Summer Validation to the Student Recreation Center. Your student must have been enrolled in spring 2016 or have proof of  registration for fall 2016 in order to be eligible. By purchasing the validation, your students will have access to Intramural programs and recreational facilities until classes begin in August. For more information, have your student call the Intramural Sports Office (502) 852-6707.

Alumni Memberships Available
 

Former students of the University of Louisville are eligible to join a membership program that provides access to the new Student Recreation Center. The University considers anyone who has attended classes at the university to be eligible for alumni status, so a degree is not required for this membership. Memberships are $30 per month and are available in blocks of 3, 6, 9 or 12 month periods of time.

 
 
 
 
 
Parent Volunteers for Freshman Orientation Needed

Would you be interested in mingling with the families of our incoming students during Freshman Orientation? Do you have flexibility in your schedule during May & June? 

 

We are a small office and could always use the assistance.  The UofL Parents Association would love to have you spend some time representing us during Freshman Orientation.  We would need volunteers to hand out booklets and brochures as well as greet families during lunch time at Freshman Orientation.  FREE PROUD PARENT SHIRT PROVIDED!

 

We are looking for about an hour’s time of volunteering during the lunch time of each of the 11 Freshman Orientation sessions. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form in the link below.

Students can register for a Fall class focused on leadership and career internships

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 62% of student who complete internships receive at least one job offer prior to graduation. Internships and leadership opportunities don't just happen, students need to prepare to receive such experiences.

 

Students with 30+ credit hours can register for GEN 202: Occupational Preparation: Maximizing Your Leadership Experience, a 1 hour course this Fall focused on helping students identify their strengths, develop a resume, and create a professional image. Simply search for class number 9415 in the online schedule of classes.

Belknap Farmers Market Returns to Campus May 19
 

Do you care about what you eat? Then take a walk through the Belknap Farmers’ Market! They have fresh produce from our local farmers that do not have additives. Some items sold include: fresh vegetables of all kinds (whatever is in season), pork cuts, chicken, lamb, fresh eggs, 100% whole grain breads, canned goods, jellies & jams, bread loafs, cherries, blueberries, honey, apples, turnovers, kettle popcorn, lotions and sprays made from natural ingredients, cookies, cake bites, ice cream sandwiches, fresh squeezed lemonade, peaches and much more! ALL made locally!

 

Check out the Farmers' Market on Thursday's from 3:30 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. outside the Ville Grill.

UofL is implementing several new programs to enhance campus safety this fall. Those new programs and many of the university’s existing safety efforts have been merged into one comprehensive program, CardSafe, and featured on a new safety website Louisville.edu/CardSafety.

Proud Parent Shirts

Have you been wanting to display your dedication and your pride in your Cardinal student?  Pick up a Proud Parent or Proud Grandparent shirt for $10!  We have them available daily in our offices on the 3rd floor of the Student Activities Center (SAC) W302.
