Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the June 2019 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate. Below find a few key points provided by our Chief Economist, Michael Uhrich:

  • Consumer spending on domestic beer brands increased by an estimated 1.1% during June 2019.
  • On a selling day adjusted basis, domestic beer shipment volume decreased by 0.4% in June.
  • In raw terms, June’s domestic shipments were down 5.2%.
  • June’s decline in domestic shipments was driven primarily by consumer trade-up to imports and FMBs, including hard seltzers.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael at either 202-737-2337 or muhrich@beerinstitute.org.
