Groove to reggae-influenced singer-songwriter, Cas Haley

Cas Haley first entered the national spotlight in 2007 as a contestant on the second season of the hit TV show America’s Got Talent. He quickly became a fan favorite with his natural talent and effervescent personality and finished the season in second place. His self-titled album was quickly released and sold over 30,000 units in the U.S., finishing #8 on the Billboard Reggae Chart in 2008.

Besides Cas’ hallmark influence of reggae throughout the record, there are also elements of soul, blues and pop. The album is rich with autobiographical lyrics reflective of Cas’ childhood to the present. Music fans will quickly recognize and appreciate Cas’ only cover on the album, a stunning interpretation of Alicia Keys’ “No One.”

“Cas’ sound is unique and accessible," says Eric Smith, CEO of Easy Star Records. "It’s not often we come across a singer-songwriter this talented, regardless of genre.”

Cas Haley will host an intimate performance at the ACM@UCO Performance Lab (329 E. Sheridan in Bricktown) on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Learn more about Cas at CasHaley.com.

The world’s most daring FMX riders will run the gauntlet to perform tricks never thought possible on a dirt bike. Back flips, Suicide Cans, and Kisses of Death are just a few of the gravity-defying tricks that will be on display at each event. Each rider will throw down for 90 seconds, trying to execute as many tricks as possible – but only one can win.

In addition to the insane FMX action taking place during the two-hour show, the 5050 BMX crew will be on hand to amp up the show and keep the party going in between FMX runs. They won’t cease to amaze with the level of tricks they perform.

Once the high-flying competition has been decided, all of the riders head to the arena concourse for an intimate autograph session that allows fans to get up close and personal with these talented athletes.

Tickets for Gold Circle seating (sideline seating) are $25. All other seats (end zones and upper bowl) are $20 for adults and $5 for kids and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, the Chesapeake Energy Center Box Office, or by phone at 800.745.3000.

Volunteers needed at the Myriad Botanical Gardens

The Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City is recruiting volunteers for assistance with a wide variety of new programs and events beginning at the Gardens this spring.

Potential volunteers do not need a green thumb to help! Many opportunities are available for people interested in getting involved with the Gardens including visitor services, youth and adult education, technical and/or administrative support, horticulture and more. The primary requirement is a desire to be a part of a vibrant volunteer community that supports the programs of one of the premiere attractions in the state.

“Volunteers are vital to our vision of the Gardens as a flourishing downtown Oklahoma City attraction,” said Maureen Heffernan, executive director. “The increased support of an active volunteer corps with a diverse range of talents and skills is one of the major components to reaching our full potential.”

Attendance is only required at one volunteer orientation meeting on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Feb. 22 and lunch will be served. For more information, call volunteer coordinator Jessica Bulleigh at 297.1537 as soon as possible to reserve a spot for orientation.
