Helping to enhance the safety of Juno Beach

New Security Cameras Coming to Pelican Lake

Discreet dome-style security camera in a park setting In a continued effort to support public safety in Juno Beach, the Juno Beach Police Foundation recently approved funding of up to $20,000 for the installation of security cameras around Pelican Lake. This initiative was developed in close coordination with the Juno Beach Police Department and Town leadership to enhance security around Pelican Lake — an iconic centerpiece of Juno Beach and a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Town Project Manager Andrea Dobbins led the bidding and evaluation process, working alongside Chief of Police Brian Smith to review proposals from multiple vendors. After a thorough review and consultation with the Police Foundation and the Town Manager, the contract was awarded last week to CCTVAgent, a security technology firm in Royal Palm Beach. The final project cost came in just over $18,000 — well within the amount the Foundation had committed to fund.

Installation of the cameras is expected to begin in the coming weeks. The equipment will be positioned in three key locations: near the North Gazebo, the South Gazebo, and the Friendship Fountain area. The cameras are designed to promote peace of mind for those who walk around the lake and to serve as a valuable investigative tool for the Police Department should an incident occur.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation is proud to fund this important project and thanks the Town of Juno Beach, Chief Smith, and Ms. Dobbins for their efforts in bringing it to life. It is another example of how your decision to donate helps the Foundation attain its mission of enhancing the safety and security of Juno Beach.

Pastor Graeser Joins Police Chaplaincy Team

The Juno Beach Police Department has recently announced the appointment of Reverend James (Jim) Graeser as its new Protestant chaplain. Pastor Graeser currently serves as lead pastor of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Juno Beach, a position he has held since November 2020.

Originally from Ohio, Pastor Jim is a graduate of Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, both in Columbus. He began his ministry in Florida in 1995 and has served congregations in Jacksonville and Dallas, as well as a leadership role in the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Pastor Jim and his wife, Nicole, have four adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren — with two more on the way. Outside the pulpit, they enjoy travel, long-distance motorcycle touring, boating, beach walks, movies, and fine dining.

In his new role, Pastor Jim joins Father Art Venezia and Rabbi Berel Namdar as part of the Department's volunteer chaplaincy program. Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support to Officers and staff, offer guidance during times of stress or crisis, and serve as a steady presence at critical incidents.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation welcomes Pastor Jim and proudly supports the department's continued focus on Officer wellness and community outreach.

Be Alert to Door-to-Door Solicitors

Discreet dome-style security camera in a park setting This time of year often brings more foot traffic through our neighborhoods — not just from neighbors and visitors, but also from door-to-door salespeople. While some are legitimate, others may use misleading tactics to gain access to your home or personal information.

To protect yourself and your neighbors, keep these safety tips in mind:

  • Don't engage with unsolicited visitors who claim your home equipment or services are “outdated” or in need of immediate upgrade. If it sounds suspicious, trust your instincts.
  • Always ask for proper identification and look for branded attire or company credentials. Reputable representatives won't object.
  • Never allow unknown individuals into your home unless you're certain of who they are and why they're there.
  • Spread the word. If you receive a questionable call, text, or doorstep visit, notify your neighbors—and report anything concerning to the Juno Beach Police Department's non-emergency number — (561) 799-4445.

Scammers often count on confusion or urgency to catch people off guard. A calm, cautious response is your best protection.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation reminds all residents: staying informed and aware helps keep our community safe.
