Item 1: nKPI Reporting

The mandatory condition in the Indigenous Australians' Health Programme grant funding agreement for the upcoming nKPI reporting round (opening 1 January 2021 and closing 15 February 2021) has been waived, in acknowledgement of the pressures for health services of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department would like to strongly encourage you to submit your nKPI data, as the OSR and nKPI data submitted in July 2020 is providing a good picture of the impacts of COVID-19 on services and service delivery for health services. The data is of immense value to your health service and the broader new Closing the Gap agreement. Although the July 2020 reporting period was also made voluntary, over 90% of reports were submitted by 250 organisations, which is a great achievement.

If you wish to participate in the January 2021 reporting round, to assist with reporting there is a What's New/What's different document available here, or you may wish to contact indigenousreporting@health.gov.au and request a Webex training session.

Item 2: Qlik Interactive Reports

The Qlik Interactive Reports will soon have a downloadable PowerPoint presentation (presentation) containing all of the graphs from the three summary reports in your Qlik reports. The presentation, which you can customise to suit your needs, will be available following each nKPI collection after the AIHW has processed everyone’s data submissions. It will first be available for your use for the January 2021 nKPI data collection. There has been a short delay with preparing the presentation containing July 2020 data, but it will be made available soon.

There are many benefits to this new feature, including making it:

  • easier to share nKPI results and comparisons with clinical teams, and
  • more useful to brief senior management and boards.

The presentation replaces the PDF report provided in the past by the AIHW.

To assist you to make the most of your reports you can access the QLIK Interactive Reports User Guide at any time, or request a training session by emailing us at indigenousreporting@health.gov.au

Item 3: nKPI Modifications for January 2021 reporting

Don't forget:

The first group of minor nKPI updates, involving indicators PI03, PI07, PI08, PI14 and PI22, will be in place in clinical information system reports and in the Portal in time for the 1 January 2021 nKPI reporting round.

For your information, the updated nKPI specifications/definitions can be found here.

nKPI Targets - A new nKPI targets tab in the Portal will replace the targets question previously collected through the Activity Work Plan. The self determined targets, as nominated by you/your service, will appear in your Qlik reports, allowing you to track progress over time. This will minimise duplication and help to reduce services' reporting burden.

Item 4: Change to Portal User Administrator role

Your service's Portal User Administrator will soon be able to assign the following roles:

  • Interactive Viewer Report, and
  • Published Report Viewer.

The Interactive Viewer Report role allows you to access your service's nKPI data through the Qlik Interactive Reports. This role was previously assigned by the Portal Support Team, but will soon be able to be assigned by your service's User Administrator.

The Published Report Viewer role is new and allows you to download the new PowerPoint presentation, from the Qlik Interactive Reports. This PowerPoint presentation contains all of the graphs from the three summary reports of your nKPI data. It will be available following AIHW's processing of your nKPI data, commencing from the 1 January 2021 nKPI reporting round.

Item 5: OSR Service Level Reports

The OSR Service Level Reports have been, for the last time, provided by the AIHW. If you have not received your final report already, please send an email to osrhelpdesk@aihw.gov.au
