Thankful all of the time

Each November, when Thanksgiving comes around (as it will this Thursday in the U.S.), a common theme emerges. From dinner table conversations to Instagram feeds, people are expressing their gratefulness for good health, loved ones, favorite objects and their year’s greatest triumphs. While it’s good to be thankful for those kinds of things, being thankful for them is, well, sort of easy.

What about the challenges of the past year? Can we be thankful for those? Aren’t they often what make us stronger? Wiser? Don’t they often bring us closer together with the important people in our lives? Sometimes it’s the things that are the least fun to celebrate that actually give us the most to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on the ways life’s lemons can be turned into lemonade. This year, take a few minutes and give thanks for all of the tough stuff, and celebrate all of the ways these things have made us into more awesome human beings!

When we build

by Wilson Miner

Wilson Miner gave a powerful talk on the importance of tools we create and how they can change us. If there is only one thing you take away from it: "we make our world what it is and we become the kind of people we want to live in it."
