Click here February & March 2025 Impact Newsletter CPC and Meals for Unity Distribute 250 Meals to Flushing Families On March 29th, CPC partnered with Meals for Unity to distribute 250 free meals at the CPC Queens Community Center in Flushing. Unlike traditional one-meal-per-person distributions, each family received up to four meals, including both meat-based and vegetarian options. CPC Hosts Press Conference to Address Changes in CDPAP Services On February 21st, CPC announced that subsidiary organization CPC Consumer Directed is facilitating the transition of New York City's consumers in the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) to Public Partnerships LLC (PPL) as part of a statewide initiative. CPC Consumer Directed will continue serving as the CDPAP facilitator for current consumers, while new consumers may select CPC Consumer Directed as their facilitator and receive assistance with transitioning to PPL. CPC Highlights 60 Years of Service on NY1 On February 2nd, Wayne Ho, President & CEO of CPC, joined host Cheryl Wills on NY1’s "In Focus" to discuss CPC services and our 60th anniversary gala. During the interview, Wayne highlighted CPC’s wide range of programs that serve individuals from all backgrounds and emphasized our commitment to promoting equity and inclusion. CPC and Apex for Youth Host Career Exploration Event On March 12th, CPC and Apex for Youth co-hosted a Career Exploration Event at CPC One. Over 50 high school students from both organizations came together to explore diverse career paths and build meaningful connections with industry leaders. The event featured insights from CPC’s program, policy, legal, fiscal, human resources, operations, and strategy teams, as well as board members Chester Lee and Fabien Lefebvre, who shared their experiences working in the nonprofit sector and beyond.
CPC Supports Job Seekers at Local Job Fair On March 6th, CPC tabled at a job fair hosted by the Lower East Side Employment Network (LESEN), Manny Cantor Center, and Bandana, an online job platform. The CPC workforce team shared information about job training programs, resources, and available positions. Attendees also received resume advice, free headshots, interview preparation, free professional attire from ReLoved Boutique, and other educational workshops. Press Coverage: PIX 11
CPC Joins Coalition to Advocate for Expanded Child Care Funding On March 12th, CPC joined New Yorkers United for Child Care, elected officials, coalition partners, and parents at City Hall Park to urge the city government to prioritize 2-Care in the budget to expand full-time child care access for 2-year-olds in New York City and restore early childhood funding that was previously cut. CPC Advocates for Childcare Equity at ABNY and 5BORO Institute Panel On March 6th, CPC joined a panel hosted by ABNY and the 5BORO Institute to discuss the future of childcare and the policy changes needed to improve access, affordability, and quality for the workforce. Wayne Ho, CPC President and CEO, advocated for pay parity for community-based early childhood educators, a continuum of care serving children ages 0-5, and increased language access for immigrant families. CPC NY Chinatown OAC Honors Women's History Month On March 13th, the CPC NY Chinatown Older Adult Center hosted a celebration for 380 community members in honor of Women’s History Month. The event featured a karaoke performance by 15 older adults, who sang a mix of Cantonese and Mandarin songs, and a raffle drawing. This celebration brought the community closer together and honored the contributions of women in the community.
CPC Brooklyn Community Services Co-Hosts Lunar New Year Celebration with Over 700 Attendees On February 16th, CPC Brooklyn Community Services co-hosted a Lunar New Year celebration in partnership with the Parent-Child Relationship Association and New York Cares. Over 700 community members, partners, and elected officials came together for an afternoon of cultural festivities, traditional performances and giveaways including plush toys, arts and crafts supplies, warm winter coats, and accessories. Nan Shan OAC Celebrates International Women’s Day On March 7th, the CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center hosted a dim sum brunch at Royal Queen Restaurant in collaboration with the World Madam Organization. The event brought together 500 older adults and elected officials for a celebration of food, culture, and community. Guests enjoyed a traditional food, performances, and raffle prizes. Senator Gillibrand Hosts Press Conference at CPC Queens Community Center On February 3rd, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand held a press conference at the CPC Queens Community Center, where she opposed the Trump administration's decision to freeze federal funding. She explained how this move would negatively impact the Asian American community, particularly low-income families who rely on food banks, school lunch programs, and other essential welfare services. CPC Celebrates 60 Years of Community Services at Annual Gala On February 28th, CPC held its annual gala at Cipriani Wall Street, celebrating 60 years of empowering and uplifting Asian American, immigrant, and low-income communities in New York City. The sold-out event welcomed more than 900 guests, with 100% of proceeds supporting CPC’s efforts to expand essential programming, particularly for immigrant New Yorkers during this critical time of economic uncertainty and policy challenges, promote staff development, and advocate for policy priorities that advance equity and inclusion for all. CPC Advocates for Policy Priorities at Caucus Weekend From February 14th to 16th, CPC joined Caucus Weekend in Albany to advocate for legislative and budget priorities that strengthen our communities, including the AAPI Equity Budget, the Just Pay Campaign for human services workers, the Fair Pay for Home Care initiative, and other critical investments to support staff and community members. CPC also spoke at the “Human Services: Pay Equity is Racial Equity” workshop and stressed the importance of pay equity in the human services and home care sectors.
