No images? Click here Dear subscriber, Welcome to our Brexit Ezine. In a recent Ezine we outlined the new import controls being introduced by the UK on certain food products including plant and animal products. The import controls were due to come into effect on 1 April and 1 July. Yesterday, the UK Government announced that it will delay the phased introduction of these additional UK import controls until 1 October 2021, 1 January 2022 and 1 March 2022. The introduction of these new controls has been postponed, it has not been cancelled. These new UK import controls will impact on exporters of all products of animal origin, including all meat, dairy, fish and composite products, as well as regulated plants and plant products. Irish exporters should maximise this additional time to prepare. Irish food businesses exporting food to the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) need to be ready for these new UK import requirements, and need to ensure everyone in their supply chain are also prepared. Please note that the Protocol on Ireland / Northern Ireland means that no new procedures apply to goods moving between Northern Ireland and Ireland (and other EU Member States) in either direction.
Irish Exporters: New deadlines for UK Import Controls beginning 1 October 2021The UK Government announced yesterday a revised timetable for the introduction of UK (excluding Northern Ireland) import controls.
