HEAT Architecture was delighted to host an event at The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Brisbane, on October 25, to celebrate the state’s world leading design strengths with national and international developers and Queensland’s leading architecture and related design businesses.
Launched at the event was an extraordinary new documentary featuring Australian and international developers speaking publicly for the first time about the tangible business value of engaging Queensland designers.
“Our architects came up with an intelligent design that’s had instant appeal to consumers and investors and has achieved a very strong market acceptance and good sales rate” Laing O’Rourke General Manager, Murray Middleton told the filmmakers.
“Yes design costs money, but the savings that come back from it are significant. Through some very simple design changes you can bring about some significant changes to the energy consumption of a building and Queensland architects have really led the way in this area” added Nielson Properties Group Managing Director Ross Nielson.
Keynote speaker Andrew Borger, National Head of Commercial at Leighton Properties, highlighted the strengths of Queensland architects as world leaders in sustainable design, telling the audience of over 200 architects and developers that he considers Queensland architects to be preeminent in Australia.
Multi award-winning Brisbane-based architect Shane Thompson told the launch crowd how the strong design agenda of developers is helping to re-brand Queensland, whilst Lindy Johnson, Director of The Queensland Government’s Creative Industries Unit, stressed that great design is built on a successful collaboration between commissioners and architects.
As well as Leighton Properties and Nielson Properties, the documentary commissioned by HEAT Architecture features testimonials from developers and commissioners including Grocon, Laing O’Rourke, Townsville City Council, The University of Queensland, The Queensland Chief Scientist, Yanjian Property Group (China) and Nanjing Olympic Centre (China).
If you are a Queensland-based architecture or related design businesses and would like to use this documentary as a marketing tool, we encourage you to include a link to the documentary on your website.
In support of the 2011/12 focus towards the comissioners of architecture, we will be releasing the HEAT Architecture documentary to the domestic and international marketplace to support business focused media coverage.
We’re interested in hearing from both architects and developers about particularly successful projects, which have provided added business value to commissioners and could form strong case studies.
We are also interested in any recently completed projects, which you feel may be of interest to international media.
The HEAT Architecture website will be a rich resource for national and international developers and commisioners of architecture looking to collaborate with Queensland architects and will provide media with an insight into the the state's unique strengths in sustainable design.
Thank you to those who have registered their architecture and related design business on the HEAT Architecture website. We are pleased to see businesses utilising this platform to promote their skills and projects to the international and domestic marketplace.
