CAM Expresses Disappointement after Watered Down Climate Emergency Declaration Passed By District of MuskokaUnanimous, but in its current form, meaningless. On Monday October 19, the District of Muskoka passed a watered-down Climate Emergency Declaration. The resolution passed was not the same resolution put forward by Climate Action Muskoka (CAM). Find out more in a press release issued by CAM this week. Coverage from Muskoka Today: District's Climate Emergency a Hollow Victory for Climate Action Muskoka POLITICAL ACTION OF THE WEEKTell Your District Councillor : We Can—We Must—Do Better! The toothless Climate Emergency declaration passed on Monday by the District of Muskoka is devoid of goals, a plan, or community input. There is nothing in it to hold the District of Muskoka to account for addressing the mounting climate crisis. We are asking you, as a citizen and as a voter, to please contact your District councillor to express your disappointment and to call for a Climate Emergency declaration with goals and a timeline that enable Muskoka to join the global climate action movement in a meaningful way. Read (and endorse!) the CAM's resolution, (which does contain goals and a timeline). Find your Councillors' contact info.
