Click here June 8, 2020 New COVID-19 requirements go into effect todayAs of today, Monday, June 8, face coverings are required on campus if two or more people are together in a shared space, and all employees are required to complete a training course about safely returning to work on campus. All employees must complete the safe return training course before returning to a WSU work location. At this time, employees who can telework should continue to telework. Supervisors are asked to review the WSU Online Learning System Manager Guide to learn how to run/access user activity reports. If you do not already have access to run/view these reports, request access by completing and returning the Management Authorization Request Online Learning System to HRS. Narayanan appointed academic director for CASPavithra Narayanan been appointed academic director for the College of Arts and Sciences for a four-year term beginning July 1. Narayanan has deep experience with the campus and college. She started with WSU Vancouver as an assistant professor of English in 2004 and is currently an associate professor. She has served as co-director of the Collaborative for Social and Environmental Justice, as program leader for the department of English and as associate academic director under former academic director Amy Wharton. Last year, she served as interim co-director of the College of Arts and Sciences with John Bishop. Narayanan has also participated in shared governance, both as a member of the Vancouver Council of Faculty Representatives (under its former title, FOEC) and as a senator representing Vancouver in the Faculty Senate. A tireless advocate for equity and diversity, Narayanan has worked on numerous committees and initiatives to advance equity on the campus. She has been an outspoken and effective advocate for adjunct faculty. Before coming to WSU Vancouver, Narayanan served as head of the department of humanities at Pondicherry Engineering College in South India. Summer online group counseling sessions available to stressed studentsHas one of your students expressed feelings of stress or isolation? Counseling Services is offering a new group session: “Live Better, Stress Less: Maintaining Connection while Physically Distant.” Sessions provide opportunities to connect with others, receive support and learn coping strategies to help deal with stress. Students will learn how to develop feelings of connection and hope both within and outside of the group. The group meets virtually on Wednesdays at noon. Free and open to all students. Drapela; and Whitney Littlefield, have co-authored “Law and Neurodiversity: Youth with Autism and the Juvenile Justice Systems in Canada and the United States.” (UBC Press, June 2020). The book offers guidance on how autism research can inform and improve juvenile justice policies in Canada and the United States. Both countries rely on decentralized systems of governance to craft and implement law and policy, but their treatment of detained youth with autism differs substantively.
