Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc.

CPC's 60th Anniversary Gala will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Cipriani Wall Street.

We are excited to announce our second distinguished honoree, David L. Picket, in recognition of his outstanding achievements, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing affordable housing and community development.

David L. Picket is the Chief Executive Officer of Gotham Organization, an integrated real estate development company providing services throughout concept, financing, design, construction, lease-up and ongoing management phases.  Since joining in 1991, David has led Gotham’s new project development business through a period of unprecedented growth, overseeing the development of over 5,000 housing units and 1.7 million square feet of urban retail. In 1998, he took charge of Gotham’s development and property operations, becoming the fourth generation of Picket leadership in the company’s 110-year history.

David was one of the first developers to capitalize on the resurgence of the multi-family housing market in New York in the mid-1990s, particularly in Midtown West. He spearheaded major projects like Gotham West in Hell’s Kitchen, which transformed the area. Other notable developments under his leadership include The Suffolk, Gotham Point, The Maybury and The Ashland.

Before joining Gotham, David was a real estate banker at Citicorp and an attorney at Bryan Cave LLP. He holds a law degree from Columbia and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell. David serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Cornell College of Arts and Science, Breaking Ground, Citizen’s Budget Commission and the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). He is also a founding member of Project Parachute, a coalition supporting vulnerable New Yorkers during the COVID-19 pandemic and after.

David’s contributions to affordable housing and public-private partnerships have earned him numerous accolades, including the Tree of Life Award (2007), the Celebrating Home & Community Award (2016), and REBNY’s Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award (2022).
