Becomes the only JDF-certified cloud-based Print MIS in the market today
TORONTO, September 24, 2015 – Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of Print MIS solutions, today announced that Avanti Slingshot passed the rigorous CIP4 certification testing and it is now an officially JDF-certified product.
The International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press, and Postpress Organization or “CIP4” is a not-for-profit standards association, whose mission is to foster the adoption of process automation in the printing industry. Printing Industries of America (PIA), on behalf of CIP4, tested Avanti Slingshot against the JDF Specification and awarded Avanti certification for both MIS to Prepress and Integrated Digital Printing.
Avanti’s continued R&D investment is evident in the company’s decision to build Avanti Slingshot from the ground up as a cloud-based Print MIS platform. The product was launched at Print 13 and is the winner of numerous awards, including two of this year’s Graph Expo MUST SEE ‘EMS awards. Avanti achieved its first JDF certification in 2008 for its Avanti Classic – Graphic Arts Management System.

On September 13th, Stephen McWilliam, EVP Avanti, sat in on a panel in the Printerverse titled: “Breach Is The New Black: Data, Privacy and The Cloud” at Graph Expo. The six-member panel was moderated by Deborah Corn of the PrintMediaCentr, which presented the program. This blog post, recapping highlights of the panel, was written by Bill Michael, eMarketing Manager (Social and Web Marketing), Graphic Communications Business Group, Xerox Corporation and first appeared on the Xerox Digital Printing Blog.
The discussion is timely because more and more print providers are working with data to fuel their personalization services, Corn noted. At the same time, high-profile data breeches (and the public relations crises that follow) seem to be a regular feature in modern news crawls, fueling the F.U.D. among print providers about letting third parties handle their customer data.
Yet when asked what future data and privacy trends print providers should be gearing up for, the panelists were nearly unanimous: regulatory compliance and data integrity will become more important—and more print shop software will move to the cloud. <<READ THE FULL BLOG HERE>>
