CPC Youth Build Solidarity During
Black History MonthCPC at New Utrecht High School, an afterschool enrichment program, partnered with the 67th Precinct Clergy Council to create an educational exchange day at CPC Beacon Community Center located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, for Black History Month. On
February 24th, 30 students from both programs came together to learn about Black and Asian history and culture and to promote solidarity among communities of color.
EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
Council Member Carlina Rivera Visits CPC Jacob Riis Early Childhood CenterCouncil Member Carlina Rivera visited CPC Jacob Riis Early Childhood Center on February 7th. During her visit, Council Member Rivera read stories to the children, greeted their families, and talked to the staff.
CPC Brooklyn Senior Services Offers Virtual Yoga Classes CPC Brooklyn Senior Services kicked off virtual yoga classes on February 15th. These virtual classes provide an opportunity for older adults to stay healthy in body, mind, and soul!

CPC Quoted in the News on Anti-Asian Hate CPC staff have been quoted in several news outlets on the rise in anti-Asian harassment and violence. CPC Deputy Director of Queens Community Services Marilla Li commented on Christina Yuna Lee's murder in a Washington Post article; CPC Director of Childhood Development Services Mary Cheng commented on a NY1 story on the growing concerns of Chinatown residents for their safety; and President and CEO Wayne Ho commented on the need for proactive advocacy for our community in a Central Recorder article.

CPC Participates in Fair Pay for Home Care Advocacy DayOn February 14th, CPC joined the NY Caring Majority -- which includes seniors, people with disabilities, providers,
advocates, and labor leaders -- to advocate for #FairPay4HomeCare. Thank you to State legislators who are sponsoring these bills and who met with us in Albany to discuss how we can better support home care workers and patients.
CPC Featured on NY1 to Speak on Home Care CPC President and CEO Wayne Ho was a guest on NY1's "In Focus with Cheryl Wills" and discussed the growing needs of Asian American seniors due to the pandemic, the rise of anti-Asian hate, and the need for the State to pass the Fair Pay for Home Care Act and end 24-hour home care shifts.

CPC Meets With Over 60 Legislators on 4th Annual State Advocacy DaysCPC held our 4th Annual State Advocacy Days on Tuesday, February 15th, and Wednesday, February 16th. CPC staff and community members met with over 60 State legislators to discuss how CPC has been supporting our communities during COVID-19, why it is critical that we fund our human services and home care workers, and how we need guaranteed healthcare, housing relief, and more for a just recovery.
CPC and the New York Knicks Celebrate the Lunar New Year On Monday, February 14th, the Knicks hosted a Lunar New Year event and honored CPC with the ceremonial ball delivery! Special thanks to the Knicks for a celebratory and adrenaline packed evening.
CPC Chief Strategy Officer Brian Chen Comments on Chinatown New Business Growth Brian Chen, CPC's Chief Strategy Officer, is quoted in an article by NY City Lens covering the recent opening of Uncle Lou’s Restaurant, owned by Louis Wong in Chinatown.
Governor Hochul Announces $10 Million in Awards to Asian American Organizations On February 20th, Governor Hochul announced funding to assist Asian American Community Organizations across New York State. This will be the largest investment in the Asian American community in New York State history.
CPC Distributes Ida Relief Fund for Immigrants As one of the Ida Relief Fund administrators, CPC has made two rounds of payments to households and is gearing up for a third round. “They’ve been able to get on their feet. This program is helping,” remarked Steve Mei on CPC Brooklyn Community Services' efforts.

Free Construction Training Program - Registration Open
The Flushing Mobility Collaborative is launching a pilot program in February. The program will consist of job and career readiness workshops. Each individual will have a support person to access available resources. Participants can also explore their skills and interest to determine what career they want to pursue while accessing resources that will help them complete the program.
