Highlight: K99 ‘Pathway to Independence’ Panel Discussion

Known as the Pathway to Independence award, the NIH’s K99/R00 transitional award is designed to facilitate a postdoc’s ability to transition to an independent scientist role earlier in his or her career. At this event we will give an overview of the K99 and the current funding opportunity (NIH 16-193), then open the floor to our panelists, three current Brown postdocs who have recently earned K99 awards. They will discuss the stages of the application process and will cover topics including assessing whether the K99 is right for you, developing training and research plans, and leveraging your resources to craft a successful application.

If you are a graduate student or postdoc who is interested in learning more about the K99, don’t miss this event!

Light refreshments will be served. This event is hosted by the BioMed Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and is open to all Brown graduate students and postdocs; sign up here to let us know you’re interested in attending and to submit questions to the panel.
