AUGUSTINE PREPARATORY ACADEMYAug Prep Students Are Grateful For You!Dear Aug Prep Community, Because of your investment in Aug Prep students, our school was able to swiftly transition in the COVID-19 pandemic. With Governor Evers today declaring that Wisconsin schools are closed through the end of the year, your support means that our students won't miss a beat. We are prepared to continue serving our students through distance learning. As a result, 1,250 Aug Prep students will not fall behind during this unprecedented time. Education as we know it has changed - and we need your support now more than ever to continue serving our students and families as well as our incredible team of teachers. This is true whether teaching occurs in the classroom or from a distance. We hope you enjoy these updates on how Aug Prep is continuing coordinated, school-wide, comprehensive distance learning to engage the minds, bodies and souls of our community. It is only possible through your support. Thank you for believing in our mission. Thank you for believing in our students. Thank you for investing in our work to serve a highly vulnerable community during these unprecedented times. Warm Regards, Augustine Prep is so proud of our teachers and staff! Our students can’t afford lost learning time, and our team knows this. Every day, they relentlessly work to support our families and keep our students’ learning on-track. We need your help. Would you be willing to write a note or send a video to encourage and appreciate our team? If yes, please reach out to Kaitlyn Wollum for more information! Financial support is always needed and such a gift, but we also appreciate the other ways many of you have blessed our community. Mark and Karen Erdmann, owners of MK Cellular, took a leap of faith to support St. Augustine Preparatory Academy when we opened our doors in 2017. Since then they have continued to connect with and serve our community. Last fall, our students and staff teamed up with the Erdmann’s and Kids Around the World (KATW) to pack over 140,000 meals for children in Haiti. Currently, ports are closed and shipments cannot be sent. Given the deep impact COVID-19 has had on our already vulnerable community, the Erdmann’s and KATW made a decision to send more than 6,000 family meal packets to Aug Prep for distribution to our families and community along with the daily breakfast and lunch pick up. Student learning continues at Aug Prep in full force! Part of your investment in Aug Prep students helped us take something as complex as biology and quickly move it online within days. Pictured above is Jazlyn Ramos creation and revisions in a new color of her graphic organizer of the 9 Phyla of the Animal Kingdom and how any animal can be classified into one of these nine phyla due to their characteristics at an embryological level. In junior biology, it is critical that the students not only learn the content but also understand the scientific process, including constantly revising their theories, procedures, etc.. This is a daily practice within Ms. Tomasovic’s class. How do you keep people physically moving and emotionally connected during quarantine? Our teachers have the solution! In addition to physical education challenges and sharing worship videos for our students to sing and dance to, several of our teachers have created silly videos to engage and connect with their students. Check out a couple of them here! Our 10th-grade students have been starting their physical education class by taking a step back to appreciate all God has blessed us with. They do this by writing down five things they are grateful for at the present moment. Here are just a few of the many touching responses from Mr. Richard’s students: Your support is what enables our school to survive. We welcome donations all year long. If you are able to give during this unprecedented time, please make a donation online or mail it to 2607 S. 5th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53207.
