We're Here to Help over Winter Break

Winter Break is a great time to start or continue your job or internship search. You can use the long break to research different career fields and specific employers that interest you. It's also a good time to apply for internships targeted to Brown students through BrownConnect and for jobs through Handshake.

Whether you are looking for a job or an internship, CareerLAB counselors consistently recommend spending the majority or your search time connecting with Brown alums and other professionals. Reach out and schedule informational interviews with Brown alums through LinkedIn. To get started, read more about how BrownConnect can help with networking.

Not sure how to get started? Make an appointment with a CareerLAB counselor for a phone, video or in-person meeting. Counselors are available throughout January to help with every step of the job and internship search process!

Schedule an appointment today through Handshake.

Bruno Undergraduate Internship Opportunities

Bruno internships are quality opportunities provided by Brown alumni and parents who have a special interest in helping Brown undergraduates. These internships will offer students an opportunity to leverage their Brown connection and an added advantage in the recruiting/hiring process. The Bruno internships will be tagged with the Brown shield to distinguish the position as one or more of the following:

  • Exclusive to Brown undergraduates
  • The position is provided by an alumnus/a, and/or parent of Brown
  • Preference is given to a Brown applicant; preference means two or more Brown candidates must be in the final interview process
  • A signature program created by Brown community (alumni, parents, staff and/or faculty) specifically for Brown undergraduates

Search the BrownConnect web site for internships today!

BrownConnect's Tip of the Week:

On the general internships listing page on BrownConnect, you can apply a filter for “Bruno” internships. These are job listings posted by Brown parents and alumni who are specifically looking for
Brown students like you to fill these positions!

BrownConnect's Linking Internships and Knowledge (LINK) Awards

Each summer, BrownConnect Linking Internships and Knowledge Awards (LINK) offers financial assistance to undergraduates pursuing unpaid or low-paying summer internships, and summer 2018 was no exception. Over 250 Brown students were funded across the globe, and their opportunities ranged from researching a cure for breast cancer, designing puppets and theatre sets, tagging Salmon in Alaska, researching weather trends on Mount Washington, and much more. The possibilities are endless! The best thing about the BrownConnect LINK Award is that it allows students the freedom to explore career options and engage in experiential learning activities in industries that may not typically pay.

To be eligible for a LINK award, undergraduates must apply for or secure an internship that is unpaid or that pays $1,000 or less before applying for funds. The stipend for a domestic internship is $3,500, and is $5,000 for an internship abroad. Deadlines are in mid-March and mid-April.
