Welcome Back to campus with WinterFest!
WinterFest is UofL’s way to welcome all new, transfer and returning students to campus for the start of the spring semester. Like Welcome Week in August, students can look to WinterFest to find a wide variety of opportunities to get connected on campus and have a great time even in those grey January days.
Students can follow First Year Initiatives on Twitter @UofLFYI for exclusive event updates, and get the semester started off right by attending WinterFest events!

Commencement savored by graduates and their families
The Dec. 18 winter commencement was a “twofer” for the Ronald family of Louisville. Just hours after Ann Ronald took part in a 3 p.m. doctoral hooding ceremony, her daughter, Mollie Ronald, received a master’s degree at the main commencement ceremony. Both are graduates of the College of Education and Human Development. “My mom and I are excited to graduate on the same day,” Mollie Ronald said in an email message.
The mother-daughter team was among the more than 800 students who took part in commencement at the KFC Yum! Center.

Students, parents, alum participate in community service at Music City Bowl
More than 80 students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff from the University of Louisville and Texas A&M University participated in a service project prior to the 2015 Music City Bowl Game in Nashville.
Volunteers worked with the Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville to help with multiple food sorting projects to help address the risk of hunger for children, families, and seniors in the Middle Tennessee region.

Encourage your student to download New CardSafe app
UofL is implementing several new programs to enhance campus safety this fall. Those new programs and many of the university’s existing safety efforts have been merged into one comprehensive program, CardSafe, and featured on a new safety website Louisville.edu/CardSafe.
We are right in the heart of cold weather and winter weather possibilities, so just in case, this is a continued reminder of the inclement weather policy. UofL makes the decision only after reviewing weather forecasts and checking with local agencies and UofL police and physical plant departments. This is not an exact science, but the goal is to continue to provide an outstanding educational experience while working to ensure everyone’s safety.
For a list of all UofL severe weather policies and announcements visit the page link in the button below.
