Move it or lose it
Tomorrow is National Bank Transfer Day, a collective day of action to send a coordinated message to big banks - that we've had enough of being nickel and dimed, and we're moving our money to financial institutions with integrity.
You can find out more about the growing effort (more people moved their money to credit unions last month than in ALL of 2010!) on our Move Your Money website. One of the best parts of the site is the resources section for making the switch seamless. There you'll find a great new website, oregonbankslocal.org.
This site ranks financial institutions based on how invested they are in the community, so you can pick a bank that's building up Oregon instead of siphoning funds across the country to line the pockets of wealthy execs.
There will also be several events, marches and rallies to mark Bank Transfer Day around the state. You can find out more on our calendar.
If you'll be taking part in tomorrow's festivities, please share your experience with us! We've set up a page where you can either e-mail us your story, or upload a quick video. We call it our bank break-up page. Check out why other Oregonians are dumping their big banks here:

Lastly, if you've tried to visit us at our website recently, you've probably realized it's down. We're working to get it up and running again, but until then, please find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
