CHAP TEAM NEWSLETTER - SEPTEMBER 2022

CHAP NEWS

Online Cardiac Rehab NOW available for ALL

CATCH web, developed by the CHAP team, is an online program providing access to cardiac rehab for clients in their own home and can be done at their own pace. Until now, CATCH web has only been available for clients in rural and remote South Australia but can now be used by anyone wanting to help prevent secondary cardiac events. CATCH web includes a number of engaging videos and educational information that can assist clients after their initial cardiac event or diagnosis and will complement face to face, telephone and / or GP hybrid cardiac rehab support they are receiving. We encourage ALL Cardiac Rehab Services in SA to enrol your telephone or face to face clients into the CATCH web portal. If you have any queries, please email us.

SA Standardised PREMS Survey

The CHAP team have collected patient satisfaction forms from all Cardiac Rehab Services in SA and with their feedback created a state-wide standardisation Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMS) questionnaire that has been developed into an online survey using Qualtrics. The surveys have been individualised for each Cardiac Rehab Service to capture feedback from participants who have been involved in their cardiac rehab program. Results from these surveys will be collated and analysed in August 2023 and individualised reports will be provided to all Services. You can access the individualised survey links here and for more information, please contact Dr Lemlem Gebremichael our Clinical Pharmacy Research Fellow.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Led by Rural GPs

In-conjunction with Brentnalls Health SA, we have developed a business model based on integrating current Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items to support patients receiving their cardiac rehab through their primary care physician. The business model for cardiac rehab places the GP at the centre of cardiac rehab by coordinating, monitoring, and assessing the client's progress. For more information the full business model report, the presentation delivered to Rural GPs (at the Rural Doctors Association of South Australia (RDASA) Masterclass 2022) and the handout (pictured on the right) that has been updated with the latest MBS items in August 2022 can be downloaded here or contact Dr Norma Bulamu, our Health Economist.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Design Workshops

Planning for the design workshops is currently underway. These will commence in late September and will encourage clients to contribute to the Cardiac Rehab Especially for Women (CREW) and Cardiac Rehab for All (CR4ALL) projects. Dates and locations are to be confirmed shortly but in the interim, we would like to encourage all Cardiac Rehab Services in regional SA to start thinking about which clients might like to be involved with assisting in the design of these two projects. Participants will be reimbursed with a $100 gift voucher.
