WELCOME to our first official AquaX newsletter! This will be sent regularly to the AquaX community and contain information about the championship and the ‘Grand Prix of the Sea’ events. Please don’t hesitate to send us feedback on the content or topics that you wish to have included.
On the right-hand side bar there are some useful links to take you directly to the P1 AquaX website. Again, any feedback will be appreciated. CALENDAR
We have a great season of P1 AquaX racing lined up for you that promises to be both exciting and adventurous for competitors and fans alike . The tour will visit high-profile venues across the UK, supporting Powerboat P1’s P1 Superstock series at all of the events bar one.The first round kicks off with the official launch at the SportsBoat and RIB Show in Southampton, with the first races taking place on Southampton Water. Jersey in the Channel Islands will be the location for round 2. Special ferry rates have been secured for all entrants and the racing will take place in the famous St Aubin’s Bay, St Helier. Round 3 will take us back to the mainland as we head south to Plymouth. A change to the original calendar will now see the tour support The British Powerboat Festival in Cowes, Isle of Wight – see below for details. The final showdown will take place against
a backdrop of Tall Ships at the Mersey River Festival, Liverpool in mid September. The ‘Grand Prix of the Sea’ Village will take centre stage in Albert Dock with the racers fighting for the AquaX crown in front of the crowds lining the banks of theMersey.
CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCH
We are delighted to invite you to the AquaX Championship Launch taking place on Saturday 21st May at the SportsBoat and RIB Show (Ocean Village, Southampton). When you will have the chance to talk to us and learn everything there is to know about the championship. Three different classes will be featured for both amateur and experienced riders and British Champion Freestyler Jack Moule with be leading the way with breathtaking freestyle stunts.
We look forward to seeing you there and in the meantime you can check all the details of the championship on the website and be up to date with the latest training and promo days around the country.
CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY PACKAGES
If you’re considering signing up for this year’s AquaX championships then why not take advantage of our fantastic championship offer of £350.00 all in? Not only does the package cover subscription fees and race training for all entrants but Amateur riders also get the RYA race licence thrown in for free. But be quick as the championship offer ends on the 29th April 2011.Read more about it by clicking the enter AquaX link on the right-hand side.
Alternatively, riders can enter each round individually, but must subscribe at least two weeks before the proposed event. Individual entries cost £70.00, but do not include training and licence fees. For more details please visit the website.
ROUND 4: DATE & VENUE CHANGE
Round 4 of the 2011 AquaX Championship will now be held on the 27th August in conjunction with the British Powerboat Festival on the Isle of Wight.
The three-day extravaganza based in Cowes and organised by the British Powerboat Racing Club will feature a variety of high-class powerboat racing, including the famous Cowes- Torquay- Cowes run. P1 AquaX will be supporting the festival on the Saturday with a full programme of match and rally racing. The racing will take place in front of the crowds off Egypt Point and promises to be an exciting addition to the event.
AQUAX RACER TRAINING
We’re delighted to announce that Nitro Jet Action Sports in Berinsfield, Oxfordshire is to become the official training centre for AquaX Racer Training. Owners Paul and Nicki Attiwell are more than pleased to be supporting AquaX and had this to say“we are passionate about the sport and happy to help and encourage new riders to participate as we do with the JSRA”.
AquaX Racer training will take place from 9.00am through to 1.00pm every Saturday morning leading up to the first round. Training sessions must be pre-booked through the P1 office by contacting P1 Race Administrator Valentina Bertuzzi: valentina.bertuzzi@powerboatp1.com
RUSSELL MARMON - ELITE 300
P1 is proud to announce the signing of Britain’s most successful endurance rider Russell Marmon for its inaugural AquaX Championship event this summer on 21st/22nd May at Ocean Village, Southampton.
After years of riding the waves of international competition, Russell will now get the chance to compete on home waters in the UK’s first endurance series against the top riders in the Elite 300 class, and he’s really looking forward it. “It’s such a great opportunity for all sea riders when a promoter like P1 gets behind our sport, and the fact that it’s all geared to stock racing but separated by experience is brilliant because it means any watercraft user can have ago” said Russell.
Russell has also offered his many years of experience of sea riding to help new riders wishing to get involved in this year’s series with advice on kit and preparation. So if you’d signing up for AquaX and would like some further advice, why not email Russell at russell.marmon@sky.com
