Huge National TV & Radio coverage for Altrincham

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came together - Altrincham's businesses, Trafford Council & their contractors, local community groups, 'Our Altrincham', volunteers and schools - for all their hard work in ensuring the town successfully delivered the pilot project for 'Perfect Day'.

Altrincham was given the opportunity to be the pilot town for the ‘National High Street Perfect Day’ following on from the Government's High Street Report (December 2018). The idea of ‘Perfect Day’ was for the whole town to come together for one special day to work towards making the town 'look & feel' the best it possibly could.

The positive PR generated for the town was phenomenal, with broadcast features on BBC 5 Live 'Wake up to Money', BBC Radio 4 'The Today Programme', BBC Breakfast, BBC News Channel, BBC Radio Manchester, Granada Reports and Sky News.

CPR Training Kit

The BID business BrightNewMe recently underwent in-house CPR (resuscitation) training. Everyone learned the techniques of chest compression (to keep the blood moving around the body) and mouth to mouth resuscitation.

BrightNewMe has invested in a kit including ten mannequins from the British Heart Foundation which they are happy to lend to other BID businesses doing CPR training, in return for a donation to the British Heart Foundation.

CPR saves lives. In Norway, where CPR is taught in schools, people who collapse with a heart attack outside have a one in four chance of survival. Here in the UK, where CPR is routinely not taught, survival is only one in ten.
