Paula Fitzgerald is a senior professional with a background in stakeholder and government relations, policy development and advocacy, communication, regulatory affairs, issues management, membership engagement, and capacity building.
Paula has worked across a diverse stakeholder base and has established trusted networks, both nationally and internationally, to develop and lead local and global teams and to deliver strategies and solutions, particularly across the science and agriculture sectors.
Paula is currently a director and deputy chair of Skills Impact Australia, a member of CSIRO’s Agriculture and Food Advisory Committee and a member of the Federal Government’s Gene Technology Ethics and Community Consultative Committee.

This month we caught up with Paula Parker, President of the Australian Veterinary Association to chat about her new position and what inspires her:
Being the organisation’s youngest president in 100 years is quite an achievement. How did you feel when the official announcement was made?
A combination of relieved and excited. The board has been working on our succession plan as part of our governance process over the last 18 months. This is a time of enormous change in our profession and our organisation, and embracing that change is the key to our ongoing leadership in animal health and welfare.

The Livestock Biosecurity Network (LBN) is pleased to welcome Duncan Rowland to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
Mr Rowland currently serves as Executive Manager – Biosecurity and Product Integrity Services at Animal Health Australia (AHA), where he has worked to strengthen the country’s animal health system since 2004. His appointment to LBN brings his considerable wealth of knowledge and experience in biosecurity, animal health and welfare into LBN.
