BBC RADIO 2

I'm thrilled to be sitting in for Clare Balding presenting Radio 2's Good Morning Sunday this Sunday 11th October and next Sunday 18th October 7-9am.

My fingers will be on the buttons to launch some smashing tracks like friendly torpedoes to your ears, easing Great Britain gently into the day. This weekend you can hear me in conversation with Sir Roger Moore and I'd love to hear from you on the show. You can email your dedications, comments and shout outs to gms@bbc.co.uk or text 88291. Go for it!

BOOK OF DREAMS

Drinking For Chaps, written with the lunatic gentleman Mr Gustav Temple is out on 22nd October and available for pre-order on Amazon right NOW! It's more or less how every Chap should choose his booze; from Absinthe to Zubrowska we'll lead you through the minefield of dodgy drinks to lesser-known bottles that will delight and dazzle. And if it doesn't make you laugh, I shall endeavour to tickle you until it does. I’ll be signing copies in person at the Ideal Home Show 14th & 15th November in Manchester and 25th & 26th November in London and at Three Wine Men - see the website for full details but we kick off in Cardiff 21st November!

CHINA AHOY!

I am delighted to announce that the government has appointed me the UK's Drinks Ambassador to China as part of the Food is GREAT campaign this autumn.  I will be conducting tastings and opening a pop up bar to bring some fabulous British cocktails and drinks to the Beijingers.  I'll also be heading to Shanghai on my quest to promote the liquid bounty of our isle.  Before I fly off I will be showing our Chinese guests around some of the great breweries and vineyards right here in the UK (in fact as you read this I have taken over the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham with a cohort of guests from China to brew our very own beer to take back to China!)

It's a whopping great autumn of awesomeness and I do hope to share some, if not all of it with you all.

To keep your cockles warm, here are three rocking reds to wrap yourself around this Autumn:

Bargain: Aldi The Exquisite Collection Ribera del Duero 2014 (13.5%) £5.99. A Spanish gem with dark fruit like rolling thunder, intense, tangy and a decent everyday bottle for the price.

Star Buy: Viñalba Malbec Syrah 2013 (14.5%) on offer for £6! Asda. Fragrant Argentinean red with fistfuls of vibrant sleek cassis and mulberry fruit with flavours that just keep pumping out the joy. Steak night ahoy!

Treat: Tongue In Groove Pinot Noir 2013 Clayvin Vineyard (14.5%) £23.95 Lea & Sandeman. An absolute gem from New Zealand created by six friends uniting in the wake of the Christchurch earthquake. Stunning Christmas spice aromas, excellent vivacity and complexity, this intense Pinot is brilliantly fine with a distinctive fun factor. It also has a label that's so cool it makes Don Draper seem like a wally.

SATURDAY KITCHEN

And if you're tuning in to BBC1's Saturday Kitchen on 17th October, I shall be popping up and selecting some beauteous bottles for James and the chefs in the studio.

Feel free to share this bulletin and do keep in touch on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Rock on!
