With a 75% voter turnout rate in the 2008 presidential election, Minnesota had the highest voter turnout of any state. Considered a swing state, Minnesota has not been won by a Republican in a presidential election since 1972.

From 2000-2007, there were 9 instances of possible voter impersonation. State voter ID laws effect over 20 million voting age citizens who do not have the required type of photo ID.
