Allied arts presents acclaimed french jazz guitarist On July 10, Allied Arts will host a community concert featuring Stephane Wrembel, renowned French jazz guitarist and composer of the score for Academy Award-winning film, Midnight in Paris; and acclaimed local violinist, Kyle Dillingham. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Myriad Gardens Great Lawn and Band Shell Stage, and it will be open to the public and free of charge. Although classically trained, Wrembel is well known for his eclectic, “gypsy jazz” style, and is currently touring in support of his latest album, Origins, which features his recent number-one hit, Bistro Fada, from Midnight in Paris. Dillingham, a long-time friend of Wrembel and one of the coordinators of the event, will also perform, adding a special Oklahoma flare to the performance. “When we were presented with the opportunity to host a concert featuring these great musicians, we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to bring this unique musical experience to the community as a way to thank them for the tremendous support Allied Arts received this year,” said Deborah McAuliffe Senner, president and CEO of Allied Arts. “Our mission is to make the arts accessible to all so we’re excited to present this beautiful music to Oklahoma City.” Seating is open on a first-come-first-served basis on the Great Lawn, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food and beverages will also be allowed. For more information about Allied Arts, visit alliedartsokc.com or call 405.278.8944.
Cell Phones In Summer In response to last year’s highly successful photos-made-on-phones project, the [Artspace] at Untitled gallery has organized a second invitational exhibition, Cell Phones In Summer. It is an assemblage of photographs and videos made by professionals and non-professionals alike utilizing the theme of 'summer.' Thirty-eight image makers were selected to have their photos shown. The gallery had submissions from as far away as Germany and from across the U.S. Participants were asked to submit six images and three judges selected one photograph from each of the winners that they felt best represented their use of the cell phone camera and creative interpretation of the theme.
