Dear Business Partner,

Always one step ahead – this was the motto when meteocontrol took on a sporting challenge last Thursday. In spite of the pouring rain, 20 team members of meteocontrol took part in Augsburg’s fifth Company Run!

Remaining one step ahead is also the aim when we develop new products. With the May edition of our newsletter, we'd like to present among other things the latest VCOM innovation and we'll show how we protect our data loggers against unauthorized access. You'll find further information regarding our products and innovations on our homepage. Click here!

Our newsletter topics at a glance:

  • VCOM: Innovation by Experience
Ticket Statistics: New portlet documents ticket causes

  • Security features for blue’Log X series and WEB'log series

Ticket Statistics: New portlet documents ticket causes

As part of the VCOM range of innovations, we'd like to present a new evaluation graphic: Ticket Statistics shows the distribution of causes for closed tickets and is available on both park and system level in VCOM.

You can select different time periods and narrow down the systems analyzed using the system list. Via an icon, the data can easily be exported as an image or table. Ticket causes are specified when tickets are processed or closed in the ticket system.

We'd be happy to set up a list for our partners with their individual error causes in VCOM. If you're interested, please contact our team: technik@meteocontrol.de

Security features for blue’Log X series and WEB'log series

Security of data loggers in PV systems

Nowadays, even the network devices in PV systems, especially those which perform control and measurement tasks, need to be protected against unauthorized access. We therefore recommend restricting the possibilities for accessing the data loggers to a minimum. This includes not setting up a public IP address for direct access to a data logger. The port forwarding function which is offered by most Internet routers is also affected.

WEB’log – improved security features

For remote access to data loggers in the WEB’log series, you should ideally use more secure methods, e.g. virtual private networks (VPNs) with appropriate encryption.

In order to improve WEB’log security, we have integrated the following security functions into the next software update:

  • Password-protected web interface:
Access to websites is possible only with a password
  • Password-protected ftp access
  • Automatic prompt to change the standard password

blue’Log – new-generation security features

  • Live access without security risk
In conjunction with VCOM and safer’Sun Professional, the blue’Log allows live remote access without setting up port forwarding or a VPN network. The blue’Log establishes an SSL-encrypted connection to the meteocontrol portal. You can then use this convenient, secure connection with no additional costs or configuration.
  • Protected transmission of measurement data
Your measurement data is protected. It is transferred securely to the meteocontrol portal via an SSL-encrypted http connection.

  • Protected access to the blue’Log
The web interface is only accessible througha user / password combination. Access is blocked to all processes that run on the blue’Log in the background and don't need to be visible for set-up and operating purposes.
