We are very much looking forward to the start of a new academic year and welcoming our new students to campus.

To celebrate the start of term we’re launching a competition which is all about friendship. If you met your partner here or made a best friend for life, email us a picture of either then or now with that special person and a short caption accompanying the image of no more than 20 words. The closing date is 5.00pm on Friday 4 October. The winner will receive a goody bag of Leeds Trinity merchandise.

September is not only the start of term for students at Leeds Trinity, it also marks the start of many new teaching careers of our graduates from ICE.

We would like to wish all those about to start their first teaching positions the very best of luck. And don't forget we're always here for you! We'd love to hear from any NQTs who'd like to share their first term experiences. Email us your story here.

Last year, thanks to the support from our alumni community and business partners we were able to offer mentoring to 44 students at Leeds Trinity. We will soon be launching our 2019/20 mentoring programme, which will be open to students of all disciplines. We would very much like to involve alumni again this year.

The mentoring will involve meetings throughout the academic year which can take place face-to-face, through email, over the phone or via Skype. A minimum of three hours contact time is expected.

We have a number of short coaching courses that alumni can take advantage of this term.

On 15 September 2019, alumni Stephen and Mary Harding, along with many others, celebrated 50 years since first walking through our doors in 1969. For so many, this was the beginning of long and very successful careers in education. Stephen and Mary got together after a year of becoming friends and celebrate their first date day, in November 1970, every year.

"It’s a bit like your first day in infants school, the child you sit next to on the first day often becomes your friend for life. That certainly happened in our case at TASC."

Both went on to forge outstanding careers as senior leaders. Both retired early from their jobs in 2007 and went on train teachers in South America and Rwanda.
