ACT Rugby Awards - Coach of the Year - Brad Harris
Congratulations to Coaching Director/1st Grade Coach Brad Harris on winning the ACT & Southern NSW Rugby Union Coach of the Year Award!
Brad’s achievements as a Coach this year, not only demonstrate his determination to have a successful team, but to provide opportunity for developing players and to build a positive Club culture based on performance and commitment. Further to his role as 1st Grade Coach, Brad is responsible for overseeing the entire Rugby operations for the Club, with extremely positive results across the grades this season stemming from his drive to provide equal playing opportunity and a professional program across all 5 grades of competition by way of carefully selected Coaching appointments and a hands on approach - even strapping the boots on for 3rd and 4th Grade at times when required.
In addition to the above achievements, Brad has been instrumental in the operation of the V-Rugby Academy, a pathway program for young aspirational footballers that provides the framework and resources for them to become professional footballers. This year alone, six Academy players have started in 1st Grade for the Club. Furthermore, 11 Academy members including 7 local juniors attained selection in the ACT U20s side and 4 players in the Combined States U20s side, leading to 3 players being selected in the Australian U20s side for the IRB Junior World Championships. Exceptional performances by ACT Players in the U20s tournaments this year showcased the talent within ACT & Southern NSW Rugby region and demonstrates the ACT is capable of competing with the traditional Rugby nurseries of NSW and QLD.
