Dear Old Moretonian,

Here in the OM Office at Moreton, I am looking out on to some pretty windswept pitches where the girls are valiantly trying to play lacrosse. We try not to inundate you with too many emails but sometimes the news is just too good not to let you know.

Scottish Open Lacrosse Tournament held at Loretto School, Edinburgh

This weekend, Moreton took up a team made up of U15 and U16 players to compete in the 1st Team Tournament against schools from England and Scotland. They played exceptionally well showing the talent and depth of Lacrosse played at Moreton.

They WON all their matches including the Final versus Queen Margarets, York, 5-0 and were crowned the Scottish Open Lacrosse Tournament WINNERS!  The reason why the team was made up mainly of U15 and U16 players was because the 1st team were busy playing The Queen's School Chester where they WON 27 – 2.

So if any Old Moretonian would like to come and support the Moreton Lacrosse Teams, we would love to see you at the National Schools Lacrosse Tournament which starts on Friday 1st March 2013 at the Imperial College Sports Grounds at Harlington near Heathrow Airport. The Moreton teams will be playing against the likes of Cheltenham Ladies and others.

CALLING ALL OM ARTISTS – PROFESSIONAL OR OTHERWISE!
 

The closing date for the OM and Moreton Centenary Art Competition on the theme of ‘Woman’ is drawing near. JPEGS of your entries need to be in by 31st March 2013. We would encourage all OM artists to submit their entries.

Successful entries will be exhibited at the OM and Moreton Centenary Exhibition at the Fine Art Society, London on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November 2013. Download the entry form here.

BUSINESS LUNCH

Our Guest Speaker at the forthcoming Moreton Business Lunch on Friday 8th March is OM Fiona Marshall (Richards 98) who is Head of Marketing Womenswear for online fashion giant ASOS. Fiona will talk about online marketing and how to utilise social media more effectively. Fiona has also been involved with the launch marketing of BBC’s iplayer as well as receiving two BAFTAs for BBC Olympic campaigns. SAVE THE DATE! OM 1991 – 2001 Decade Reunion Lunch – Saturday 29th June 2013
 

This year the Reunion will begin with a Lacrosse Match at 11am, OMs v Moreton’s XII Touring Team, which later this year is touring the USA and Canada. We invite all keen OM lacrosse players to sign up to take part in this match. After the match, there will be Drinks in the Front Hall at 12pm, followed by Lunch and Entertainments, Tours of the School, and ending the day with Tea and Scones. These Lunches have become increasingly popular and are a good opportunity to catch up with friends, have a fun afternoon and to see Moreton on a glorious summer Day. Famous last words!

SAVE THE DATE! OM Moreton Enterprises Dinner, London

The date of the OM Moreton Enterprises Dinner London is Thursday 17th October 2013 at the Savile Club, London.  This very convivial Dinner is open to all OMs who were either involved in Moreton Enterprises or in Moreton Travel which saw the historic takeover of Gobowen Station.

Invitations will be sent out soon. The School and Governors have very kindly agreed to subsidise the cost of the OM Dinner, so supper in Mayfair will be a very reasonable £50! If you would like to attend, or know of any OM who is interested in attending, do register your interest with the OM Office. Places for this event will be limited, so apply early.
