Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc.

Dear CPC Community,

I am reaching out to invite you and your organization to join NYC Nonprofits Turnout: A Voter Empowerment Project -  a nonpartisan initiative to build on current civic engagement and voting across the city’s human services sector and the communities we  serve in order to reshape our political and economic systems. Both the current national election and New York City's 2021 election will have a sweeping impact on our sector. Together, we can increase voter turnout and grow the political power of the nonprofit sector by sharing resources to integrate Get Out The Vote (GOTV) messaging into our work and aggregating data to display our sector's voting power.

Through unified and expanded education, registration, and mobilization efforts, NYC Nonprofits Turnout will activate all corners of this sector — clients and families, staff and leadership, board members and funding partners — to create a new power dynamic that puts the needs of the non-profits and the communities we serve first, adds voice and energy behind a change agenda leading up to the 2021 election cycle, and sustains influence on the next administration and beyond.

Unified Promotion of Nonprofits’ Role in the Current Elections: The first step in achieving this is to demonstrate our collective value and impact in educating and mobilizing our communities through unified promotion and branding, and build upon this effort in the lead up to the 2021 elections. Over the next week we are asking peers in the human services sector to:

  1. #NYCNonprofitsTurnout: Promote your civic engagement efforts on social media with #NYCNonprofitsTurnout (see social media toolkit) to increase visibility on our collective impact + support peers by uplifting their civic engagement work.

  2. Spread the Word: Ask nonprofit peers to join this unified effort by forwarding this email to your network.

  3. Sign the Pledge: Tell us what essential actions you are taking to help get out the vote with your staff and community members, and help collect information on the nonprofit sector’s civic engagement power to inform our strategy and 2021 municipal election organizing.

  4. Get More Deeply Involved: Volunteer for our working group to help develop resources to share with the coalition and inform Nonprofits Turnout's overall strategy.

You can learn more about the initiative and find resources for nonpartisan GOTV efforts at www.nycnonprofitsturnout.org or by replying to this email.
