This Issue - Website Audits

Website Audits

Our focus this time around is on auditing websites, either your own site or sites that you produce for your clients.

Carrying out a thorough audit is a good idea if:

  • You haven't checked through the entire website in a while
  • The overall performance of the website is not what you expected - either in terms of enquiries, sales or visitor numbers
  • You recently carried out some updates to the website
  • You are about to launch a new product or service
  • Your marketing is directing a large number of visitors to your website

A thorough audit can encompass many aspects, of which a few are detailed here, but what is important is to regularly review the website, make a list of what needs fixing or improving, prioritise the most important and then complete each item.

You'll be surprised by what a website audit can turn up, but if you're not sure where to start then have a look at the From The Blog section below.

Of course, if you would like a fresh pair of eyes to carry out a detailed website audit for you then please contact us.

From The Blog

We've been breaking down each area that a website audit can cover on the WebDepend blog.

Users hate errors and so our first post in the series focused on functionality to minimise or eradicate any issues that might be impeding site visitors.

Making sure the website displays correctly in each browser is another vital area, to make sure users have the same experience whichever of the main web browsers they are using.

Testing Tools

Pivotal Tracker

Our favourite bug tracking tool here at WebDepend is Pivotal Tracker.

We like how easy it is to use and allow developers and project managers to easily view the items that need to be completed, whether they are bugs, feature requests or chores.

Of course, there are many other bug tracking tools available, here's a list we've put together.
