Recruitment for CPC Foundations in Customer Service Begins

We are now accepting applications for our NEW Foundations in Customer Service training program. The training program begins on April 24, 2017 and will run for four weeks. Applicants must be 18 years old, must have at least high school education or equivalent, know how to use a computer and must possess excellent communication skills.  

Interested applicants must attend a CPC Workforce Development Information Session for necessary information and documents to apply. Dates are listed in "Upcoming CPC Events" above.

CPC & Partners Expand Legal Services
During Uncertain Time for Immigrants

On March 2, 2017, CPC announced the expansion of our free legal services in partnership with Immigrant Justice Corps, New York Legal Assistant Group, GMHI, MFY Legal Services and Advocates for Justice. During the press conference, Advocates for Justice was introduced as CPC's latest legal program partner providing consultation and, for the first time for CPC, representation if needed.

CPC Participates in Manhattan District Attorney Office's CJII Youth Opportunity Hub

As part of the Manhattan District Attorney Office's Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (CJII), a consortium of agencies based in the Lower East Side (LES) are collaborating to pilot a 'Youth Opportunity Hub' for at-risk youth and young adults in the community. CPC is excited about the opportunity to positively impact and empower the lives of youth and young adults served through this initiative.

CPC Director Honored at NY State Comptroller
Lunar New Year Celebration

On February 22, 2017, NY State Comptroller DiNapoli hosted his annual Lunar New Year Celebration in honor of the year of the rooster and five outstanding community leaders. CPC's Directof or Brooklyn Community Services, Wai Yee Chan, was honored for her years of devotion and compassion to the low-income and immigrant families of Brooklyn.

Launches an Exhibition of Artwork

On February 18, 2017, the CPC Queens Services for Families with Special Needs launched a new exhibition of artwork by individuals with Special Needs. The artwork in the exhibit is particularly compelling because the Arts serves as a "voice” for many individuals with developmental disabilities.

CPC Brooklyn Community Center
Celebrates the Year of the Rooster

On Saturday, February 11th, 2017 CPC Brooklyn Community Services held their Annual Lunar New Year Celebration at the beautifully decorated P.S.310. Families from all around the neighborhood poured in to enjoy the community event celebrating the Year of the Rooster. The celebration featured the 3rd Annual Kid’s Traditional Costume Contest, featuring 20 amazing children all showcasing their stunning costumes and radiating both confidence and pride in their culture.

Lunar New Year Oral History Project with NYPL

In January, 2017, students in one of the Office for New Americans high intermediate-level English classes in CPC’s Workforce Development Division Adult Literacy Program participated in recording their oral histories as part of the Chinatown Legacy Project, part of the New York Public Library’s Community Oral History Project. The project, whose mission is to “collect oral histories of people who have lived or worked in Chinatown neighborhood,” elicited the students’ personal histories with Lunar New Year (as well as the Burmese New Year Festival, Thingyan).
