5th Grade eNews

Thanks for taking the time to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences!  We enjoyed visiting with you.  

• Bible: Deborah Helps Israel

• Reading: We will finish our reading skill, Character, and The War That Saved My Life.  The Skill Test (vocabulary, Big Idea, Essential
• Questions, Graphic Tool, etc.) will be on Friday, October 26.
• Spelling:  r combination (ar) arctic, barge, harsh,  starch, radar, sharpen, yard, varnish, startle, tarnish, garment, carpet, market, harvest,  sparkle, target, dollar, mustard, calendar
• Language: Continue helping verbs, adverb “not”, and natural/inverted order; introduce compound sentences
• Math: Finish Chapter 4 - Geometry: rays, angles, measuring and drawing angles, triangles, and circles; Chapter 4 test on Wednesday, October 24 (no speed drill)
• Science: Continue Chapter 7: Interactions in an Ecosystem
• Social Studies: Begin Chapter 15 - Postwar America

Who doesn’t love a cupcake? Join us for a fundraiser TODAY at Bliss Cupcakes until 10 pm! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Shiloh Christian School Playgrounds.  Both Fayetteville (Uptown) Bliss & Rogers (Promenade) Bliss are participating.

It’s almost time for the annual Junior Class FALL CARNIVAL & SILENT AUCTION! Tuesday, October 23rd from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the SEC Gym. There will be games, candy, food & fun – what more could you ask for! $10 wristbands will be sold for unlimited play time.

• October 22 - Flu clinic
• October 23 - Junior Class Carnival & Silent Auction 5-7pm, SEC Gym
• October 24 - 5th-grade meeting in the Music Room at 2:30 for Puberty Class and Overnight Science Trip
• October 31 - Picture Retakes
• November 1&2 - Overnight Science Trip to New Life Ranch; students meet in the Fellowship Gym (cafeteria).  We will leave at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and return by 2:00 p.m. on Friday.  Please make plans for someone to meet your child when we return.  5th grade will be dismissed from school at that time.  More details will be given at the meeting on October 24.
