August 28th, 2019 – Hurricane Dorian

Hope Force International Reservists,

As you know, Hurricane Dorian is growing in strength, and at the current time, is heading toward Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the current trajectory, it will eventually make landfall along the east coast of Florida, Georgia or the Carolinas. Along with this storm, excessive rainfall and flooding is expected.  Current models indicate a strong probability of making landfall somewhere in central Florida this weekend. Should this occur -- WE WILL NEED YOU!   We will follow with details as to how Hope Force will be responding. At this point, we are asking that you begin to prepare yourself and to make contingent arrangements to assist.  Your prayers for the islands and for the east coast of the U.S.-- and response if required -- will be much appreciated.

Current Status

Tropical Storm Barry - Projected Path

What we know:

  • We are reaching out to various contacts
  • It's too early to make a decision until things unfold
  • Once the storm subsides, it may take a day or so to determine our exact location of service

What we don't know:

  • Specifics on location and timing of a confirmed Hope Force deployment of Reservists

What you need to know:

  • If deployed, prepare for lots of change and uncertainty – with plans “unfolding” as things develop
  • If you can't deploy immediately, you could still have an opportunity to serve in a later phase
  • We will keep you updated as we know more

What you need to do now:

We are asking for all Hope Force Reservists to be on standby alert for a possible deployment to Florida most likely. Again, this means check your calendars, and prayerfully assess to see if this is a good time for you to respond. If you are available – or even think you might be – please EMAIL CONNIE with the following:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Cell phone number
  • Dates of availability in September and perhaps early October (as best you know)

  • Conduct a self assessment:  would this be a good time for you to deploy (physically, emotionally, job, family, etc.)?
  • Pray about your involvement
  • Prepare your deployment gear and supplies
  • Communicate with family, friends and employer about possible deployment
  • If you cannot go at this time, please pray and also consider giving to the response

Again, we DO NOT have a confirmed deployment at this time, but we DO need to have a “potential team” ready to go!

This could be a great opportunity for those of you who haven't been able to deploy for a while. Your willingness to serve others with compassionate action is greatly appreciated...and we need you!

We’d also appreciate your prayers as we continue to assess the changing situation, seeking God’s clear guidance in the process.

Thank you!
