Bootstrapping

I need to raise capital to buy equipment, so I'm selling t-shirts. Your purchase not only helps my small business, but the small local business I'm ordering the shirts from. It helps the shirt maker's suppliers, and it helps another small company that I'm ordering equipment from. And it helps their suppliers. Get yours! And/or help me sell 1000 shirts by sharing on Twitter or Facebook.

No Price Increases for 2012

Man, it's been a rough year for a lot of people, and while it's getting better, it's not what it could (or should) be. Given that custom frames are something of a luxury item, I'm not going to bump prices in 2012, even if that means not making the same level of profit that I otherwise could/would. It's been a rough year all around and if you're in the market for a new frame in 2012, I don't want to make that year any tougher for you. Pricing.

Sneak Peek: A Themed Bike

Justin is a long-time friend that I met via the Interwebs -- we're kindred spirits in a lot of ways, including bikes, and sci-fi geekery. When he asked me to build him a 26er to be painted up like a Viper from Battlestar Galactica, I jumped at the chance. The decals are getting ready to go to the printer and the frame's approaching completion, so you can expect more pics in the future. For now, though, there's more information at the gallery page.

A New "Hire"

Say hello to Pallas Athena Employee Number Two! It's a family business now, as my son will be joining the company in early 2012. His official responsibilities are to-be-determined, but it's likely that he'll be testing custom strider bikes frames in late 2012 or early 2013. No. Seriously. Say hello!

Other Stuff for Sale

I've got a couple of framesets that I want to unload so that I can get myself some more equipment -- a 1983 Trek 720 touring frame and fork, and a Salsa Las Cruces cyclocross frame and fork. Get more details here.

Bikes in the News

• Holy crap, dude, video of a robot that rides a bicycle. How cool is that shit?

• On a more serious (read: "less fun") note, here's a piece on the economics of bike lanes.
