Meet the Candidates on Thursday, June 26th

Thursday begins our "Meet the Candidates" series!  All candidates will be invited and this is a great chance to find out more about them!  After the August 14th meeting, our board will meet and decide which candidates we are going to recommend.  This will be published in the American Patriot News as well as other places.  As you come and listen to the candidates, WE WANT YOUR INPUT!  There will be a list of the board members on the back table with contact information.  We encourage you to call or email and let us know what you think.  The candidates scheduled for Thursday are:

                    Columbia County

Linard Johnson  School Board - District 1

Mark Kazmierski   County Commission - District 2

Clifton Ward          County Commission - District 4

                      Suwannee County

J. M. Holtzclaw   School Board - District 5

Phil Oxendine   County Commission - District 4

The candidates need to know that we are actively trying to make the best decision, that we will get out and vote and then hold them accountable!  Please make an effort to attend these meetings and invite your family, friends, and neighbors!

Our Fund Raiser is Nearing an End

We have been selling raffle tickets as our main fund raiser for the last few months.  The drawing will be held on July 4th at the Branford River Reunion.  Please help us by purchasing some tickets, selling some tickets, etc.  Some of the things we use the money for:

Renting the Taylor Building for our meetings  (many thanks to Jackie Taylor and her son Jeff for making it reasonable and convenient for us to use!)

Printing the American Patriot Newspaper - we print every two weeks and are up to 1,600 copies that are distributed in the Lake City, Live Oak, Ft. White and Branford areas.  Many thanks to everyone who helps with this endeavor - it takes a lot of work and people to get the paper out every two weeks. At the current numbers it is costing about $165.00 to put out each edition. We will have copies of the last few issues at the meeting. *If you would like to have the paper emailed to you each time, please email shiggins@windstream.net and put APN in the subject line.

Supporting the Liberty First Network.  This is a group of liberty lobbyists who work tirelessly to keep us up to date on what is happening in Tallahassee all year long.  Go to:  http://libertyfirstfl.org/   to read about them!  If you are able to individually support them, please think about doing so!

Donating Constitutions to the local schools for Constitution Week.  Last year we donated 1,200 copies in both Columbia and Suwannee Counties.

And all the miscellaneous expenses that a group like ours incurs as part of trying to get the message out

We will have a booth at the Branford River Reunion and will be selling tickets before the drawing.  If you can come out and help us sell tickets, please let us know!

Thanks to Derek Hankerson

Many thanks to Derek Hankerson for taking his time to come speak to us at our last meeting!  Derek currently serves as Producer, Writer, and Director of Freedom Road Productions which is located in St. Augustine Florida.  He is the two-term chairman of the Putnam County Tea Party Patriots and the former 2nd Vice President of St. John's County Republican Executive Committee.  He has announced his candidacy for the Florida State Senate, District 6.  Derek spoke on how the tea party is similar to the radical republicans of the 1800's, he focused on the 13th, 14th, 15th and 19th amendments as well as discussing the civil rights legislation of 1866, 1870, 1871, and 1875.  He spoke of the Underground Railroad and its roots in Florida.  He was instrumental in producing a short documentary called Florida's Underground Railroad: Southern Route to Freedom.  If you would like to watch this documentary you can do so at:  http://thefloridachannel.org/videos/floridas-underground-railroad-southern-route-to-freedom/

Derek is running against Senator John Thrasher.  If you know of people who live in his district, please contact them and ask them to check him out.  He will also send us contact information for his campaign in the near future.
