Have fun, do a run

space

Going for a run can be quite challenging at times. But combine it with some friends and a good cause and you might find it fun!

Fun runs are becoming an increasingly popular activity across Brisbane and are easy to join.

Deadly author and ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation Dr Anita Heiss [pictured] has joined several fun runs with friends to raise money for charities.

She says within weeks of running she felt fitter and healthier and helped contribute to a program providing books for children in remote communities.

More to a pinch of salt

Walking group at ATSICHS Northgate

An extra pinch of salt gives many meals that extra flavour. Too much salt is proven to be bad for your heart, though.

Now, the Heart Foundation is warning us to watch out for hidden salt in processed foods.

Without knowing, you could be eating over three times the recommended amount of salt, increasing your risk of a heart attack.

Listen here to Maria Packard from the Heart Foundation who says governments should play their role and make processed foods healthier.

For some tips check out this Heart Foundation guide.

Why not become creative and join an acrobatic group?
