Dear HFI Reservist,
Hurricane Dorian has proven to be one of the more challenging storms to ascertain how and where to best respond. Dorian’s slow and powerful move across the Bahamas has resulted in unprecedented decimation of property and has been responsible for the loss of several lives. All of our hearts have been moved by the devastation we are seeing and like you, we’ve been praying for the survivors. HFI is actively engaged in pursuing several approaches in response to the need. We’re connecting with partner agencies in-country, with opportunities beginning to take shape. As you can imagine, responding to an island has its numerous logistical challenges -- and having a local partner is absolutely essential.
Along the SE Atlantic coast, Joey Stoltzfus, HFI Disaster Response Director, has staged response resources in South Carolina, and has been reaching out to our relationships and partners in the pursuit of establishing a base of operations once the storm has passed.
All Reservists are hereby placed on standby for a likely deployment in the days ahead.
Our initial request is for help in mounting our USA relief efforts. We continue to work on creating a pathway of service for the Bahamas. Hope Force anticipates a significant need of both people and finances to mount and sustain our efforts. Your prayers for survivors and responders as we move forward are much appreciated.
We are looking for immediate availability, and are uncertain as to how long the deployment window will last. However, if you cannot respond, but want to do so in the near future, please respond with proposed future dates.
