Highlight: BioMed Postdoc Travel Awards

BPTA

You asked, we listened!

Starting in Fall 2014, the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to begin offering a limited number of travel grants for postdoctoral research associates and fellows in the Division of Biology and Medicine. These BioMed Postdoc Travel Awards will provide financial support to postdocs who plan to travel to a professional conference and present a paper or give a talk. Awards of up to $500 will be issued as reimbursement of eligible expenses after travel has been completed. Acceptable uses for travel grant funds include: airfare/train/bus/car travel, lodging expenses, and conference registration fees. BioMed Postdoc Travel Awards will be awarded on a rolling basis, so there are no deadlines. However, we encourage postdocs to apply early to get the best chance of having their travel funded.

For more information on eligibility requirements and instructions on how to apply, please visit this website. Safe travels!

Special Outreach Opportunity

As has been done in years past, OGPS will be collaborating with The Gordon School, a nursery through 8th grade school in Providence, to offer a seminar series to middle school students. Brown graduate students and postdocs in the sciences are invited to come into middle school science classrooms to talk about their personal path to becoming a scientist, as well as about the research they are conducting. Sessions are held once a month and will feature a different general scientific topic each month, according to the school's curriculum. Please fill out this short interest form by September 19 to view the year's topics and indicate your interest in participating.
