Saving Our Constitution
We had a good Planning/Board meeting Monday (11-19-12) at Ray's Deli in Lake City. KrisAnne Hall spoke to us about Nullification, particularly with the idea of Florida nullifying Obamacare. Below are some of the things she told us and some of the suggestions she made:
She explained that the principle of Nullification is the responsibility of the people of each state to restrict the federal government to their limited, delegated powers. She explained that our biggest problem is educating people about Nullification. We have to find ways to empower people in the states to understand how much power they have to protect our Rights. She gave us a “to do” list to get us started:
1) She recommended Tom E. Woods book, “Nullification” but asked us to read the appendix first - the appendix includes these documents and she definitely wants us to read each of them:
a) The Virginia Resolution of 1798, http://avalon.law.yale.edu//18th_century/virres.asp
b) The Kentucky Resolutions of 1798 and 1799, http://avalon.law.yale.edu//18th_century/kenres.asp
c) The address of the General Assembly to people of the commonwealth of Virginia (this accompanied the Virginia Resolution)
She also recommended Federalist Papers # 33 http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed33.asp
Federalist Papers # 78 http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed78.asp
These documents can be found on:
http://avalon.law.yale.edu/ These will give us the ammunition we need to stand our ground with our elected representatives when they say that Nullification is unconstitutional. We will be sending out another newsletter in a few days with some action items for things that we can start doing to work on this issue.
KrisAnne is writing an article on Nullification for her blog: www.krisannehall.com. This should be posted in the next couple of days so please check her website. KrisAnne will be our guest speaker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 to speak further on this issue. Please go ahead and mark your claendars and plan to attend!

Things We will Work On In the Coming Months
There have been many good suggestions made for our group. I am going to list some below and will get out more information in the near future.
1) Build the core of our organization: Officers, Board Members, and Committees to work on the issues facing us.
2) Doing more with our social media (Facebook, etc.). Get the most out of our website, find new ways to get our information out to the public.
3) Look for potential candidates: Suggestions were made that we find people as soon as possible to run for offices; in particular people who have established integrity. We would like to have a committee that could vet candidates and we would like to involve other groups to help with this effort. Lane Watkins explained to us the GOTV (Get Out the Vote) effort (knocking on doors, telephone banking, etc.) Lane will coordinate the effort to work on this issue.
4) Finding members who can keep up with the Florida Legislature, keep us informed about issues/legislation that need our input., etc.
5) County Commissions - look for members who can attend the County Commission meetings and report to the membership. Several volunteered for the Columbia County Commission. A suggestion was made to have buttons made that indicate we are there on behalf of the Tea Party.
If you have other ideas please let us know. If there is an area that you can work on, please let us know.
