modo family +1

Here's a beautiful image one of our members sent to us of bringing his newborn baby, Ansel, home in Modo. Ansel is keeping Dad’s hands full and we hear he is growing up a healthy and happy kid.

We love it when our members share these stories with us: we’re grateful to be part of your lives in such a special way. Keep ‘em coming! Facebook Like Button

update to member agreements

Modo vehicles cannot be driven off-road or on roads that are not regularly maintained; our insurance does not cover driving off-road. This is an important point under “Treatment + Operation of Vehicles” that has now been re-inserted in casual and business member agreements. The co-op manual has always stated this.

member perk at ywca

We try to partner with organizations that promote a healthy way of life, and YWCA Health + Fitness is one of them! Their downtown Vancouver facilities include weight rooms, studios, and an ozone-purified pool.

Co-op members of Modo get the best rate at YWCA: $56.50 per month (plus HST). Normally there is an $85 joiner fee but for the month of October, YWCA will waive that fee for Modo co-op members. Just bring an invoice with your name, address, and co-op member number as proof of membership. See you at the pool! Facebook Like Button

nowbc co-op celebrates new workplace deliveries

Online farmers market and grocery delivery co-op, NOWBC, has recently started delivering to workplaces. The locally owned and run co-op delivers organic fruit, vegetables, dairy, and other groceries in Vancouver neighbourhoods, and now workplaces. It's a great option with farmers markets soon coming to a close. Read more about workplace deliveries here.

Check out our staff roster any time on our website.

avoid late fees

You end your booking on time by fobbing out on time. Our on-board technology registers the end of the booking as first fob-out at the last location. That means that if you’re sitting in the vehicle past your booking time and you haven’t fobbed out at that location yet, this will count as a late return.

Reminder: there’s no grace period for late returns. Late fines are applied regardless of whether another member is waiting for the vehicle. Please book some just-in-case time every booking. Tweet Button

time to step up for transit funding

Two newsletters ago, we introduced the Sustainable Transportation Coalition (STC) to you – a non-partisan group that supports a range of funding sources for TransLink to complete its 2040 plan. Modo is a member of the STC. Since then, the STC has continued to lobby the Mayors’ Council to vote in favour of one of the key funding sources: a 2-cent gas tax increase.

In the upcoming days, the Mayors’ Council will be voting on the gas-tax increase and we anticipate strong debate in the media. We’re encouraging our members to get involved in the dialogue: if we all agree that our region needs a long-term and more accessible transit system, where should the funding come from?

As part of the STC, Modo is in favour of funding from a gas tax increase, from a portion of the post-2012 carbon tax, from an annual graduated vehicle registration fee, and smart road pricing. These are “user-pay” models of funding and are saleable and sufficient.
