The Supreme Court recently ruled that Loyalty Management UK Ltd (‘LMU’), who run the Nectar points scheme, are entitled to recover input VAT they had incurred in running the scheme in a case that first started 7 years ago.

Update on withdrawal of research exemption
At the end of 2012 HMRC published a consultation regarding the withdrawal of VAT exemption for the supply of research between two non-profit making bodies (‘eligible bodies’). As a result of responses received they have offered some clarity on supplies that will not be affected by the removal of the exemption.

Following a client nomination, the Henderson Loggie VAT team have been shortlisted for the Tax Team of the Year at the Scottish Accountancy Awards. The award criteria recognises teams that are entirely client focused and able to present good results for their clients and comes after a great year of growth for the team. The prestigious awards ceremony will take place in the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on the 20th June. Fingers crossed!
