Fall for Glacier

Greetings!  Welcome to Belton Chalet's first quarterly newsletter brought to you, our treasured guests and friends, for an exclusive preview of our upcoming special events and activities for the coming year.

This year, summer in Glacier National Park featured mild weather, bountiful wildflowers, berries and waterfalls, bringing record numbers of visitors to our jewel in the Crown of the Continent.  A beautiful September kept Chef Melissa and her talented staff busy in the Grill Restaurant and Taproom until closing October 4th, when we celebrated the last of our summer special events with our guests.

We are excited to begin a year of events planned for the 2010 Centennial, commemorating Glacier National Park's and Belton Chalet's 100th birthdays.  Several of these special events, like the New Year's Eve Celebration and Glacier’s Grand Heritage Tours, are limited to small numbers so check the website early and often to ensure your reservation.

This time of year when the snow descends from the mountain peaks, the river levels drop, and the tamaracks turn gold, we anxiously await the quiet winter season ahead.  Glacier Park is open all year and our cozy 1910 cottages are too, available at discounted rates from October through May and located just outside the west entrance to the park.  The Lodge, Taproom and Grill Restaurant welcome exclusive groups for holiday parties, reunions and weddings.

On December 4th, our legendary winter weekends of food and entertainment provide a unique destination after snowshoeing, skiing or a winter drive through the park.
We look forward to sharing our cozy fireplace and Montana hospitality with you this winter!  Check out our Entertainment page for each weekend's featured musicians.

2010: The Centennial Year

Belton Chalet and Glacier National Park Celebrate 100 years

The historic Belton Chalet and Glacier National Park are quickly approaching their centennial year in 2010. A year of celebrations and remarkable events will kick off with the Belton Chalet New Year's Eve Party on December 31st, 2009. This event will ring in the centennial year with vintage 1910 attire and a full evening of dining, entertainment, and accommodations in our fully restored Chalet and Lodge.

The Belton Chalet is pleased to host several other events throughout the summer season to celebrate the unique history and tradition that continues to be a keystone of the business today. Some of the planned events include: the Belton Birthday Dinner event on June 27, Centennial Poetry Contest reading on June 25, Glacier Grand Heritage Tour on August 11th & 18th, and the Belton Centennial Employee Reunion on September 5th.

Free Art & Architectural tours will be offered every Wednesday at 3:00pm throughout the summer season, June 1st thru September 1st. Join the Belton historian for a walk around the property and an inside look at the fine details of the historic buildings and signature art pieces of the Belton. The tour concludes in the Tap Room, where you can enjoy local Montana dishes and brews and watch the trains roll past the view into Glacier Park.

Glacier National Park and the surrounding communities will be featuring many noteworthy Centennial events. For more information on the Glacier Centennial, visit www.glaciercentennial.org.
