Research Update

Good afternoon,
Linked below is the August 2018 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate.
Below find a few key points provided by our Chief Economist, Michael Uhrich:

  • Domestic beer shipment volume grew slightly in August and continued to perform well-above the year-to-date trend.
  • Performance among all beer segments improved during the summer, following a very challenging first half of the year, in which the industry faced many supply chain-related issues.
  • Many supply issues that prevented greater performance during the first half of the year appear resolved, however, transportation remains a concern for beer and many other industries.
  • FMBs, including hard seltzers, were the top performing segment during the summer selling season, although imports remain the top performing segment year-to-date through August.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael at either 202-737-2337 or muhrich@beerinstitute.org.
