NWT Tourism Coronavirus Update #5 - NWT Public Health Emergency Declared and translated materials available now for visitors who have not left the territory

Dear valued members,

The world of COVID-19 continues to change rapidly. It is affecting everyone on a personal level, as well as having a profound effect on business. We hope that all of you are safe and well.

We continue to make safety for our visitors, staff and industry our top priority. We all have a civic duty to follow the health advisories and precautions of the Chief Public Health Officer of the NWT, especially now that the NWT has declared a public health state of emergency. To see the full press release, please click here

To this end we  have attached the GNWT's translated handouts for visitors who still may be in the territory.  The documents are available in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean and are print-ready. I would like to thank our General Sales Agents ((Joanna, Eiko and Anna) for assisting the GNWT with these translations. Together we are stronger!  We have also attached the English Language versions again for you so you have them all in one place.

The International Visitors Advisory Handout for hotels and tour operators gives basic instructions for guests who have arrived from outside of Canada.

The Self Isolation information sheet gives more detail on what self-isolation is for guests who must practice it.

The COVID-19 Self-Monitoring infomation sheet gives information both on what self-monitoring is, and a 14-day symptom monitoring tracker for those using it.

I also want to inform all of you that NWT Tourism staff are now working from home. We began this yesterday and we are following the direction of the Prime Minister and the Chief Public Health Officer in the Northwest Territories. This is to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect the health of staff, our members, and our communites. If you need to schedule a call with any one of us, or reach us, please reach out via email and if you don't know our email, please simply use info@spectacularnwt.com.  Erica is responding to that email and will direct emails to where they need to go.  We have made provisions to allow a certain number of staff to be in the office for phone calls, while also keeping in line with recommended social distancing, so we can continue to serve our members.

Continue to look after each other. Be be kind to one another and to those on the front lines who are trying to help our visitors get home. While kindness is good medicine when times are troubled and it goes a long long way, I can't say enough - listen to advisories and help get your guests home. There is a time for tours and this is not the time.
