Latin America is the deadliest place in the world. Together, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Venezuela account for one in every four murders on earth; four Latin Americans are killed every 15 minutes.

The region could be safer, writes Robert Muggah. With courageous leadership and evidence-based policies that learn from what’s worked well both nearby and abroad, Latin America could cut its homicide rate cut in half in ten years.
